Behind The Scenes At Alice In Wonderland

We thought that people might be interested in seeing a bit of what goes on in preparation for our annual show. So this year, we've recorded movies showing you what happens over 3 days in about 10 minutes.

3 days before the first performance, the 'get in' starts. This is when the crew load in and rig all the lighting and set for the show. Here's day 1 where you can see the dancefloor being laid onto the stage, scaffolding poles being set up and lights hauled and secured in position. Then the first stage of focusing of the lights takes place - the beam of each individual light is moved to the desired location on the stage.

Day 2 of the get in starts with set building and then continues with more focusing.

Day 3 is all about final preparations of lighting and set, a soundcheck with all performers who use mics in the performance and finally the dress rehearsal in the afternoon. This is probably the fastest you'll ever see Alice In Wonderland performed!

Then of course there were 4 days of performances. Then at the end of the last day, everything had to be taken down and removed from the theatre so that it could be ready for school assembly the next day. This is called the 'get out'. Watch closely as the get out happens much quicker than the get in!

As you can see,a lot of hard work is put in by a crew which is made up almost entirely of volunteers. If you think you could help us out next year, do get in touch.
